Quant UX Training

February 11-12, 2025:
User-Centered Product Instrumentation and Metrics
San Francisco, CA

Instructor: Don Kalar, UXR Manager and Staff Quant UX Researcher, Google
February 11-12, 2025 at Fort Mason, San Francisco (1:00-4:00pm each day)

This two half-day, in-person course focuses on how to turn telemetry from user interactions into useful metrics. Topics covered will include: how to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners to implement and interpret a measurement strategy, the pragmatics of modeling behavior based on limited signals, approaches to identifying instrumentation needs that are user-centered, ethics and responsibilities of gathering behavioral data for research, and more.

Prerequisites: None. This course is suitable for all researchers, or those curious about gathering user-centered data at scale to help inform product health. There is no requirement to know a specific programming language, statistics platform, or front-end library. There will be collaborative exercises that allow for networking with colleagues.

Join us at Fort Mason for this live class from the Quant UX Association! Registration for this 2-day class is $650.

April 28—30, 2025:
Fundamentals of Analyzing Logs, New York, NY

Instructor: Randy Au, Quant UX Researcher, Google
April 28-30, 2025 at Candid New York (Wall St. area) (1:30-4:30pm daily; after the Choice Modeling class below)

This 3 half-day class gives students the foundation to analyze telemetry logs and derive insight. This hands-on course starts by assuming no technical infrastructure is in place to analyze logs. It uses simple tools and theory to get results. It then works towards using modern tools to achieve similar outcomes at greater scale. The class divides its focus between the analytical frameworks needed to do meaningful analysis, and the technical skills needed to implement those frameworks and get results.

Participants should have day-to-day, basic fluency in a computational programming language of their choice, such as Python or R. Also, the class will use basic OS command line tools such as grep and wc, as well as some SQL with DuckDB. In class, you will use your preferred language to manipulate and wrangle data files to analyze them. Although you may use any language, the instructor will demonstrate and share Python and SQL code.

Early Bird Registration is $695 until March 1, 2025.
